PRESIDENT'S CORNER
CMAP's President renews his term
Mr. Juancho Magpantay of Security Bank Corp., renews his term as President of Credit Management Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CMAP).
President’s outlook
I feel honored, grateful at the same time challenged because of the great responsibility rest upon me leading one of the most prestigious and most respectful associations in the country!
For my brief background: as a leader literally i rose from ranks, came from a member of society called laylayan/ born and raised in the city of Tanauan, province of Batangas. From my humble beginning/ this ala eh is currently a senior assistant vice president and head of credit services and reports unit comprising of credit investigation, property appraisal, credit administration, credit management and regulatory report representing one of the best bank in the country / security bank corporation and also one of the representatives from the banking industry. Prior to become elected as president / i have served as CMAP board of trustee since 2015, which include 4 terms as your vice president.
My career evolved around credit from credit collector; credit representative; credit investigator and credit appraiser; and been with the banking industry for more than 2 and a half decade 27 years to be exact. A licensed real estate appraiser by profession, a recognized real estate consultant and former director of institute of Philippine real estate appraiser, former director of bank appraiser association of the Philippines, BAP Loandex committee member and member of technical working group of the Banko Sentral Ng Pilipinas for residential real estate price index RREPI and commercial property price index CPPI. Product of which are available through BSP website. In my profession and life there are three values that I live at and that is honesty, integrity and transparency.
My term fiscal year 2023 – 2024 or less than a year now might be too short but seems too long because looking at the mirror my white hairs increases everyday. But too short meaning could only accomplish this much. Having said that the following are my 8 points agenda:
C – continue the ongoing initiatives of the last administration and serve the associations mission vission highlighting as a medium for exchange of credit data for each members.
collaborate more with members to improve the services of the association maximizing technology using iCMAP, not only the four type of negative records but an additional databases that we aim to include in the website for additional information needed for credit evaluation top of mind are the legal garnishment, foreclosed properties; auctioned properties; for sale properties from our real estate sectors; insurance companies data; areas that are hot spot for collection; repossessed cars as well as positive information, but of course reiterating that members must be data privacy compliant.
change is inevitable but we should embraced change for good of the association and country as a whole
M – mentor our secretariat on the best of my ability and knowledge to improve their skills and eventually seen through delivery of service.
Manage the members portfolio to reach 500 at the end of this term. Be transparent, as credit managers we should incorporate dicipline amongst our members not to mentioned our credit standing in the association.
A – actively participate in the seminars and webinars. I encouraged members to send your employees to our seminars and webinars because this not only the cheapest in the industry but also one of a kind and learnings directly from the experts in the field of credit. We are also looking of CMAP certification or masterclasses offered exclusively to our members.
active participation as well in the upcoming general membership meetings not to mentioned other activities like social involvement; fellowship night; bowling tournament; much awaited christmas party and the credit congress coincide with our founding anniversary.
P – partnership with the it experts to maximize the use of technology as our theme.
Plan ahead. Failing to plan is a plan to fail. Planning is one thing and proper execution is another thing. Act fast learn fast.
The association is here to aide members in fueling the economy. Let’s embrace technology as catalyst to compete and thrive so we could face the challenges of our era. We help members as an anecdote “how to change a flat tire while running 100 kms per hour”.
Expected benefits with CMAP
iCMAP to continously improve our company’s credit evaluation process
